The Glassell Gallery, the principle exhibition venue of the Louisiana State University College of Art & Design in Baton Rouge, hosted the 5th biennial 8 Fluid Ounces ceramic cup national juried exhibition. showings is excerpted from a series called showing shadows shimmering in the shade (after “The Gate of Horn” by Louis Asekoff). These cups show shadows of Greek kyathoi. One is a shadow or doppelganger of another. One is conventional hollow refractory ceramic inside with a thin sheen draped outside while that convention is inverted in the other. A solid mass of glaze, a thin refractory coating checked its flow.
